THIS IS THE STORY OF A MEAN OGRE, A BEAUTIFUL PRINCESS AND A GOOD DRAGON!!!

We keep working on our topic of medieval princesses, knights and castles!

Now, we are enjoying a story with a twist....

Once upon a time, there was a king and a queen who lived in a golden castle with their beautiful daughter.

The princess was beautiful and sweet.

But one day, a horrible ogre captured her and locked her in a tall tower.

The knights in shining armor answered the king's prayers and tried to save the princess, but the ogre was just too scary!!!!!!!!!!!!

However, a nice dragon heard the story and dared save the princess. 

They king and the queen showed their gratitude with a big reward.

THE LEGEND OF SAINT GEORGE AND THE DRAGON

This story took place in “Silene”, 

where a horrible dragon would live in a pond as big as a lake and scare all the people in town!

One day, a beautiful princess fell in the hands of the dragon. The grieving king offered all his gold and silver to anyone brave enough to save his sweet daughter, but nobody dared!

One day, a knight in shining armor, Saint George, rode past the lake and saw the trembling princess. 

The dragon tried to attack him but Saint George was too strong and too brave and he defeated the hungry beast!!!

The princess fell in love with the fearless knight in shining armor who saved her and they lived happily ever after.

THE MIDDLE AGES

Helooooooo everybody!!!!!

This is a story about something wonderful! Something truly spectacular! It’s about knights in shining armor!

Knights in shining armor, your see, are one of the coolest parts of the middle ages. What are the middle Ages?, you might ask, we’ll let me tell you. The Middle Ages were a period of our history when things were very very, very cool. There were castles instead of homes, horses instead of cars, farms instead of grocery stores, swords instead of guns, kings instead of presidents and knights in shining armor instead of police officers. I know! It was pretty wild!

And these knights in shining armor would work for the king. And the king would say:

-Make sure the kingdom is in order, knight in shining armor!

And the knights would do that! They made sure everyone was behaving, they made sure that everyone was doing their home and doing their homework and not get attacked by dragons or very large lizards who breathed fire.

And in their spare time, these knights in shining armor would flirt with their girlfriends! But back in their time, their girlfriends were called princesses. And they were very beautiful. Very very very stunning! Quite often at the top of tall towers with no doors. And the knights in shining armor would take them horseback riding or they would have picnics, because the knights in shining armor were very good looking as well!

The coolest part of all this, you see, is that the country of England, still has queens and kings, and princesses and princeses, but they don’t wear armors any more, they just wear very tall fussy hats!!!

Halloween originated in the ancient Ireland to mark the end of the summer and the onset of the winter, which was celebrated with feasting, bonfires, sacrificial offerings, and homage to the dead. It was by far the most important of the four quarter days in the medieval Irish calendar, and there was a sense that this was the time of year when the physical and the supernatural worlds were closest and magical things could happen.

Why do kids go treat-or-trick on Halloween?

This goes back to the medieval practices of going “Mumming” -merrymaking in a costume- and going “souling” -begging for cakes in remembrance of the dead- on the eves of All Saints Day and All Souls Day. Mumming took the form of wearing costumes, chanting, singing, play-acting, and general mischief making, while souling entailed going door to door and offering prayers for the dead in exchange for treats.

IT WAS SO SCARY!!!!!

THERE WERE MONSTERS, VAMPIRES...

...AND WITCHES TOO!!!

LATER, WE WENT TO THE BREAK...

AND THEN, WE PLAYED GAMES WITH 1° B AND 2°B! IT WAS SUPER FUN!
